Update Time
14/3/12 22:02Major spoilers for Another and Digimon are present here, so proceed at your own risk. Although I don't think anyone else is following Digimon aside from me, and only one other person is interested in Another. Perhaps I can get someone hooked on Danball Senki? *is a hopeless dreamer*
Another: Craaaaap. There goes my slash pairing… :( Ok, we haven’t got actual confirmation of death, but given the nature of this show, it’s a highly likely outcome. I have a feeling that I know what the fight leading up to said death was about, but for the moment, my head canon interpretation is that it was a lover’s quarrel (which probably isn‘t too far off the truth, given that Teshigawara and Kazami were close). To be honest, I expected for one of them to die, and given that one has been conspicuously absent the last few episodes I figured he would be getting offed eventually. I’m still disappointed about it, though. There’s always fanfic, though. Not necessarily to fix said death, but Teshigawara and Kazami have a long history together, so I can always write about that. Assuming the survivor isn’t actually the dead student, which then throws a wrench into my plans/theories.
For the record, I’m thinking Akazawa is the dead student, based on the dream she had at the start of episode 10. And look, Kouichi has been in town before! He must be connected to this in some manner, otherwise why would everyone (himself included) forget that? I believe I ran across a spoiler for who the dead person is in the books, so I’m hoping the anime switches it up because a) an adaptation doesn’t need to stick to the source material all the time, and b) the possibly dead person is someone who I never would have considered being dead. Although…looking back, there are signs in the anime that things may be kept the same…Hmmm.
On a brighter note, Kouichi/Mei seems headed for a favourable ending, although anything is possible now that there’s two episodes left. The last few deaths haven’t been overly messy (except for the dream sequence in the last episode), so I’m handling this part of the series fine. I wonder who else is gonna bite it before all is said and done? And how gruesome their deaths will be?
Danball Senki: I finally found a group who is subbing it! Awesome! This anime originally aired last spring, but no one was subbing it, and by the time I got around to hunting the series down, the RAW videos had been taken down from Youtube. The series is based off a PSP game by the same name, and seems similar to the late 90’s/early 00’s series Medabots in some ways, which is why I wanted to watch it. Also because tiny robots battling it out (with seemingly real weapons, based on the first episode) is just awesome. I’ve only seen the first four episodes so far, but it looks pretty enjoyable. The three central characters seem like they have potential, as well as some of the side characters. Yes, it’s basically a kid’s series, but I don’t care. Aren’t we all children at heart?
Digimon Xrps Wars: Young Hunters: YES. YEEESSS. CROSSOVER TIME, FOLKS! I’ve been waiting literally all season for this to happen, and it’s looking epic. Especially since Ruki and Mimi are back as well, along with the past leaders. Personally, I think they were included to bring up the female head-count a bit, since aside from them, there’s only Airu, Nene and Akari. Speaking of which…Akari and Zenjirou finally get X Loaders in the next episode! Yay! And all the leaders are back! Takato and Takuya, I’ve waited so long to see you again! Even with the insane amount of filler we’ve had, I must admit that this season hasn’t been half bad. Yes, there has definitely been better seasons in terms of structure and overall storyline, but I’ve mostly enjoyed it. Hell, even Tagiru has grown on me a little.
I was struck by an idea though - this season would make for a wonderful RP if it went the AU route. Even setting aside the returning characters, there’s a whole bunch of named (and some unnamed) characters who are basically blank slates when it comes to characterization. And the world itself is pretty cool, too. I’d join an RP like that at least.
