I swear I'll get caught up with this one of these days...

I love his taste in hats!
Name: TK Takaishi (English)/Takeru Takaishi (Japanese)
Age: 8 (Digimon Adventure), 12/11 (Digimon 02 dub/Digimon 02 original)
Nationality: Japanese
Appears in: Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02
Voiced By: Wendee Lee (Adventure - English), Doug Erholtz (02 - English), Konishi Hiroko (Adventure - Japanese), Yamamoto Taisuke (02 - Japanese)
I have a complicated relationship with TK, in that I prefer him as a kid in Adventure as opposed to a pre-teen in 02. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think I connect more to the younger TK than I do his older version. Then again, from what I've seen of the original 02 as compared to the dub, TK's dubbed characterization took a turn for the worse with regards to Davis. But I'm rambling. TK starts out as the youngest DigiDestined, forced to have others protect him as they fight to save the Digital World, but over the course of Adventure, he matures and realizes he had also protect and save others - as shown when he and his partner become key to defeating Devimon, VenomMyotismon and Piedmon. By the time 02 rolls around, he's much more mature and now looks out for the new DigiDestined, guiding them as best he can based on his own experience. And what an experience it is. The video below gives a pretty good picture of TK's mental state at the start of 02, and I'll go into more detail below:
Due to the shock of losing Patamon in his battle with Devimon, TK developed a hatred of all evil. At first, this was only directed towards the Digimon he was fighting against, but 02 introduced a human villain in the form of the Digimon Emperor. While the video highlights one of TK's best moments (taking on the Emperor barehanded and punching him out), this action also highlights the immense strain TK has been under - the lingering need to prove to his brother Matt that he's just as good as him, the pressure to be a role model for the new DigiDestined, and the lengths he'll go to to stop evil. TK's an incredible complicated character, and while I do like him, I feel there was much more to him that didn't get explore in-series.
Favourite Pairing(s): TK/Kari (Takeru/Hikari) because it's pretty much canon, and TK/Davis (Takeru/Daisuke) since while they are rivals for Kari's attention, they do eventually get along rather well.
