Digimon Adventure was one of the first anime series I was introduced to, alongside Pokemon and Sailor Moon, and Joe was one of the characters I gravitated towards. I saw in him something of myself: he was shy and lacking in confidence (and terrified of pretty much everything), and he was both knowledgeable about things and needed to wear glasses at all times. But he also had qualities that I admired: the ability to overcome his fears and stand up for what he believed in, and to always be there for his friends. Over the course of Digimon Adventure, he matured a lot, and even more so in the time between that series and 02. While he gets much less screentime there, what we do see shows a young man studying to be a doctor but also aware that he still has a duty to help the Digital World when called upon. I was unable to find a clip of Joe in action, so here's some cute fanart of Joe with his partner Gomamon instead:

So while Joe started out as a scared pre-teen trapped in the Digital World, he ended up as a confident young man with a bright future (or, if you happen to actually take the 02 epilogue as canon, the Digital World's first doctor). Joe has his awesome moments as well, and I know I'm going to have fun writing him in Interwoven Destinies.
Favourite Pairing(s): Joe/Mimi (fandom seems to like this one a lot, and it is rather cute), Joe/Matt (they seem like they would be a good fit for each other)
